State Seal of Delaware
The Seal of Delaware comprises Delaware’s Coat of Arms encircled by the inscription ”Great Seal of The State of Delaware” and three dates that chronologically refer to the historical events of the ”General Assembly of the lower counties of Delaware, Separation Day and Delaware day.
January 17, 1777, was the day when the seal was first adopted and it has changed little since then. The final version was adopted in 2004; the state’s motto ”Liberty and Independence” is written on the seal.
