Georgia State Seal

The Georgia state seal was first described in the ”State Constitution” of 1777 and was first adopted in 1799. It received minor changes with the last one in 1914. There is extensive symbolism on both sides of the seal, with Georgia’s Coat of Arms appearing on the front representing the constitution and important branches of government. The Georgia militiaman symbolizes the public’s defense of the constitution. The opposite side depicts scenes symbolizing trade, commerce, and agriculture. The date of 1914 refers to the declaration of independence.
