State Seal of Wyoming
Adopted in 1893 by the 2nd legislature and revised in 1921 by the 16th legislature, the great seal of the state of Wyoming has two dates impressed upon it, 1869 and 1890.
The first commemorates its territorial status and the second celebrates the State’s admission to the union. At the center of the seal is a draped figure holding a staff while a banner flows from it; the words “Equal Rights” are written on the banner, symbolizing the political status of women as a result of the territorial suffrage amendment in 1869.
